Here you'll get a few important information about the security of Tribal Wars.

You account password will only be saved in an encrypted way. It is not possible to decrypt your password that way. But there are a few ways for someone to get your password:

  • You have selected a password that can be easily guessed
  • You have been logging into your account from a public computer and you have saved the password on this computer. It is also possible that someone watched you enter the password
  • You have become a victim of fraud

Here are a few tips on how to protect yourself against those things. They might sound a bit silly, but we have learned from experience how many players send in support requests because it happened in exactly those ways.

  • Your password should not include your first or last name. It is also not advised to use a password like "1234" or "password". It's best to combine a word with numbers and special characters. It might sound complicated, but just adding a ! in the middle of the word really strengthens the password. The number should not have a specific meaning as that can always be guessed.
  • When you log in on public computers, like in school or in an Internet cafe, it is important that you don't select to "keep logged in". Always select no when you are asked if you want to save the password. It's also important to make sure no one is watching you when you log in.
  • No one from the Tribal Wars Team will ever ask for your password. Whenever you're asked for your password, you should be very careful. You might be asked to enter your name and password on a few pages. If these state "external authentication" and the address line is "www.tribalwars.net/...", you don't have to worry about the legitimacy. Those pages use an interface of Tribal Wars and are unable to obtain your password. One example of such a page is TWplus: If you want to comment, you first have to be authenticated.
  • You should never use the same password for multiple sites. It is especially important not to use the same password as you use on your E-Mail address on any other site. If you lose control over your E-Mail, you will lose a lot more. If you ever lose your account password, you can recover it with your E-Mail. We will not be able to help you if you lose your E-Mail account.
